In preparation for the much-anticipated General Election 2024, a comprehensive training program focusing on Election Expenditure, Model Code of Conduct (MCC), and Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) was held at the conference hall of Tagore Government College on February 26th, 2024.
The event commenced with an inaugural address delivered by Mr. M Mohammed Ashraf, the Resource Person for the A & N Parliamentary Constituency. Mr. Ashraf underscored the pivotal role of media during elections, stressing their responsibility as watchdogs, particularly when the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is enforced immediately after the election is announced. He highlighted the deployment of Election Express mobile vans, aimed at fostering awareness among the populace to ensure maximum participation in the democratic process. The overarching theme for the 2024 elections, ‘Chunav Ka Parv Desh Ka Garv’ (The Festival of Elections, Pride of the Nation), resonated throughout his address.
During the session, Mr. Ashraf delivered a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation elucidating the intricate instructions issued by the Election Commission of India pertaining to Election Expenditure Monitoring. He delved into the legal provisions and the structural framework of Election Expenditure Monitoring, providing attendees with valuable insights crucial for ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
The training session witnessed the participation of a diverse array of stakeholders, including Police Officers, Election Expenditure Monitoring (EMM) teams, and other relevant personnel.
As the nation gears up for the General Election 2024, such training initiatives serve as vital platforms for disseminating knowledge, fostering accountability, and upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
