The Directorate of Transport, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, will be conducting a series of Integrated Road Safety and Transport Service Outreach Programmes across rural Panchayats in South Andaman District from June to October 2025. The initiative aims to promote road safety awareness and facilitate the delivery of essential transport services directly to the doorsteps of rural residents.
These outreach camps will feature awareness sessions on key road safety topics such as the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, the risks associated with over-speeding and drunken driving, as well as pedestrian safety. In addition, sensitisation drives will be carried out by the Police and Health Departments to further educate the public. Live demonstrations on trauma care and basic first aid will also be conducted to equip attendees with vital emergency response knowledge.
Alongside these awareness activities, the camps will provide a range of transport-related services on-site. Residents will have the opportunity to apply for and receive learner’s licenses, renew their driving licenses, pay road taxes, obtain registration certificates, and seek assistance with vehicle permits. Public grievance redressal services will also be available, making it easier for citizens to address their concerns without the need to visit central offices.
The outreach programme will cover multiple Panchayats on scheduled dates, starting on June 12 at Beodnabad, and on June 23 at Calicut. On July 8, it will be conducted at Sippighat and Chouldari. On July 23, camps will be held at Shoal Bay, Mannarghat, and Bindraban. On August 7, the camp will take place at Wimberlygunj, Kanyapuram, and Stewartgunj. On August 21, it will be conducted at Bambooflat-I, Bambooflat-II, Shore Point, and Hope Town. On September 9, camps will be organized at Ferrargunj, Namunaghar, and Tushnabad. On September 25, the programme will be held at Collinpur and Mithakhari. Finally, on October 10, camps will be conducted at Humphreygunj, Wandoor, and Guptapara.
The Directorate of Transport has called upon local residents, stakeholders, and Panchayati Raj Institutions to actively participate and cooperate to ensure the success of this vital initiative aimed at enhancing road safety and improving access to transport services in rural areas.
