In a step toward environmental sustainability, the Government Press Employees Thrift and Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., in collaboration with the Office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, organized a tree plantation drive on Wednesday under the theme ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’.
The event, held at the premises of the Government Press in Sri Vijaya Puram, was part of the ongoing observance of the International Year of Cooperatives. It witnessed enthusiastic participation from various dignitaries and staff, reflecting the cooperative spirit and commitment to community welfare.
Among those present were the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, the Manager of the Government Press, the Chief Editor of The Daily Telegrams, Inspectors of Cooperative Societies (Urban), as well as the Chairman, Secretary, and other Board Members of the Society. Staff of the Government Press also joined in the initiative.
Saplings were planted as a symbolic gesture to honor mothers and raise awareness about environmental conservation. The drive emphasized the role of cooperative societies in promoting sustainable practices and fostering community engagement. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Secretary of the Society, who expressed appreciation to all participants for their support in making the event a success.
