The President of the Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), Mr. Rangalal Halder, along with Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker, convened a significant meeting on Thursday with the Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS.
This high-level meeting served as a platform for the ANTCC delegates to articulate and discuss the pressing concerns and aspirations of the citizens of A&N Islands. Mr. Halder and Mr. Bhasker brought attention to various urgent matters affecting the region during their discussions.
The dialogue encompassed a spectrum of critical issues, notably the challenges within the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, shortages of medical personnel including doctors and technicians in the Dialysis Unit, insufficient medication and oil supplies in Ayush Hospital, the necessity of providing Gynaecologists in Rangat and Diglipur, advocating for the re-appointment of nursing staff who served during the COVID-19 crisis, the urgency of appointing Bangla Medium teachers, the lack of hostel facilities for female students at JNRM, high airfares, and concerns within the sports sector.
Emphasising the dire state of the NH-4 road, the call for reopening Quarries, the issuance of Smart Cards to Islanders, and several other matters of public importance were highlighted, receiving dedicated attention during the discussions.
The Chief Secretary, Mr. Keshav Chandra, attentively listened to the array of issues presented by Mr. Halder and Mr. Bhasker and responded positively. He pledged to take requisite measures to address and rectify these concerns, demonstrating a commitment to prompt action and resolution.
Expressing gratitude, the ANTCC President and Campaign Committee Chairman lauded the Chief Secretary’s receptive stance and collaborative approach towards mitigating these challenges. Their meeting culminated with a hopeful outlook, anticipating constructive steps to ameliorate the issues plaguing the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
