In a notable development for the labour movement in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. TSG Bhasker, National Vice-President of the INTUC Federation and Chairman of the Campaign Committee of ANTCC, has been unanimously elected as the President of the Forest Labour Union affiliated with INTUC. He succeeds former president Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma.
The announcement was made during the Union’s General Body Meeting held on April 5, 2025, at 4 PM at the Forest Labour Club in Haddo, Ward No. 1. The meeting saw enthusiastic participation from union members, and the election process was conducted in a democratic and transparent manner, reflecting the collective will of the workers.
In his address following the election, Mr. Bhasker expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the workers for their trust in his leadership. He reaffirmed his commitment to tirelessly advocate for the welfare and rights of the forest labour community across the islands.
The General Body Meeting concluded on a high note, with members expressing a renewed sense of unity and determination to uphold the values of the union and work collectively toward shared goals.
