The Chairman of the ANTCC Campaign Committee, Mr. TSG Bhasker, has submitted a letter to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, drawing attention to concerns faced by government employees posted to the Nicobar Group of Islands.

In his letter, Mr. Bhasker highlighted that many government servants are grappling with challenges related to their tenure durations, which vary widely across departments. Despite an established tenure guideline of 1 to 2 years, several departments continue to extend postings beyond these limits, with some transfers occurring after 2 years, others after 3 to 4 years, and, in certain cases, only after 5 years or more.

“This inconsistency not only demoralises employees but also impacts their mental health and disrupts family life,” stated Mr. Bhasker, stressing that prolonged postings can lead to frustration and feelings of helplessness, ultimately affecting productivity and potentially pushing employees toward issues like depression and substance abuse.

Mr. Bhasker urged the Chief Secretary to prioritise the matter by implementing a standardised tenure policy across all departments and ensuring its strict adherence. He emphasized that a uniform approach to tenure would enhance the morale and well-being of government employees, fostering a more supportive and productive work environment in the Nicobar District.
