The Chairman of TSG Charitable Foundation, Mr. TSG Bhasker, conducted an extensive visit to several flood-hit areas in Diglipur, including Subashgram, Madhupur, Khudirampur, Deshbandugram, and Durgapur. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the damage caused by the recent flash floods and to review the relief and rehabilitation measures being implemented by the administration.
During his tour, Mr. Bhasker engaged with local residents who shared their grievances and the extent of their losses. These included significant damage to farming fields, households, and personal belongings. Despite facing multiple challenges, Mr. Bhasker also inspected areas affected by landslides to personally meet with the affected families.
A concerning revelation during the visit was that hundreds of people had yet to receive any relief funds from the administration, and many areas had not been inspected by survey teams. This highlighted a significant gap in the relief efforts.
Following his assessment, Mr. Bhasker met with the Assistant Commissioner of Diglipur in the evening and the Deputy Commissioner of North & Middle Andaman the following morning. He briefed them on the severity of the situation and the urgent need for action.
Mr. Bhasker urged both the AC and DC to expedite the damage assessment process in collaboration with Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members. He emphasized the importance of developing a comprehensive restoration plan promptly and called for swift disbursement of relief funds to the victims who had been overlooked.
His visit underscored the need for a coordinated and efficient response to the disaster, ensuring that all affected individuals receive the necessary support and resources to recover from the devastating floods.
