In a bid to bolster emergency response capabilities and enhance healthcare accessibility for the residents of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the TSG Charitable Foundation has launched a pioneering initiative aimed at revolutionising blood donation in the region, potentially saving countless lives during emergencies.

The inaugural ceremony of the Blood Grouping Camp took place at Ganasai Ground, Haddo, Ward No. 02, on Sunday, garnering support from Ritika Hospital, the Directorate of Health Services, and Mr. Eswar Rao, a prominent Social Worker. This event marked a significant milestone in healthcare accessibility for the islanders, with Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman of TSG Charitable Foundation, gracing the occasion. Bhasker inaugurated the event by personally registering as a blood donor and participating in the Blood Grouping Test.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, particularly from the youth, who eagerly registered their names in the Blood Donor List and provided blood samples for identifying their blood groups. The donor details along with the blood group will be recorded in a software to ensure the robustness of the data and easy access during emergencies.

This innovative approach leverages cutting-edge technology to streamline the blood donation process, ensuring swift and accurate matching of donors with recipients. Following the completion of Blood Grouping Camps across all 24 wards, the TSG Charitable Foundation plans to establish a systematic call centre, providing a dedicated platform for individuals to inquire about blood availability and donor details, especially for rare blood types.

The necessity for such an initiative became apparent due to the challenges faced by islanders in sourcing rare blood types during emergencies. With the introduction of this software-based system, individuals can now access crucial information about donors, including their last donation dates, facilitating prompt and efficient responses to emergency situations.

The Blood Grouping Camp saw the presence of various dignitaries and social workers, including Mrs. Zubaida Begum, Mr. Mohd. Rafique, Mrs. Shakila, Mahila Coordinator at TSG Charitable Foundation, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Mr. Sebastian Tirkey, Mr. Saji Varghese, Mr. Mohd. Zubair, Mr. M.A Sajid, Mrs. Fathima Imtiaz, and many others, all contributing to the success of the initiative.
