Tuberculosis Awareness and Screening Programme Conducted at Upper Katchal

Upper Katchal recently witnessed a significant awareness and Active Case Finding (ACF) programme on Tuberculosis (TB), organized under the guidance of Dr. Rubeena Yousuf, Medical Officer at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Katchal. The event highlighted the commitment of the local healthcare team to combating TB as part of the national mission to eradicate the disease.

The medical team, comprising Mr. D. Suresh Kumar (STS, NTEP), Ms. Anbin Roja (PHN), Ms. Margret (LHV), and Ms. Anjana (ANM), braved challenging weather conditions to travel to Upper Katchal by boat. Their efforts aimed to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment of TB.

Dr. Rubeena Yousuf led the session with an informative speech, explaining critical aspects of TB, including its signs, symptoms, transmission modes, and preventive measures. The programme also featured a constructive discussion with the First Captain, focusing on the timely transportation and submission of sputum samples for diagnosis.

As part of the initiative, 96 individuals were screened for Tuberculosis, marking a significant step towards early detection and treatment of potential cases in the community.

This event underscores the unwavering dedication of the PHC Katchal team in promoting public health and aligning with the national agenda to eliminate Tuberculosis. Their efforts not only enhance healthcare access but also foster a healthier and more informed community.
