In a significant move toward improving access to specialised healthcare, a two-day Super Specialist Consultation Camp was successfully organised on December 15–16, 2024, at G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram. This event followed the successful Specialist Consultation Camp held in November 2024 and marked another step in ensuring that residents of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands receive critical medical attention closer to home.

The initiative was a collaborative effort involving Gleneagles Hospital, Chennai; Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi; and Star Cure, with invaluable support and guidance from the Health Department of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. The camp aimed to address growing healthcare needs by providing expert consultations across key specialties.

The camp featured consultations by renowned medical specialists:

– Nephrology: Dr. V. Balaraman, Head of Department and Senior Consultant in Nephrology, extended his expertise to 28 patients.

These consultations offered vital medical guidance, particularly in cardiology and nephrology, addressing pressing health concerns of the local population.

Mr. Mandeep Grewal, Founder and President of Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi, emphasized the significance of such initiatives, stating, “This ongoing effort reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring that the residents of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands receive regular access to world-class healthcare services without having to travel long distances.”

The camp underscored the importance of collaborative healthcare efforts in bridging the gap between remote communities and specialised medical services. By providing access to leading specialists, it reaffirmed the commitment of healthcare providers and organisations to serve the community’s needs effectively.

The success of the Super Specialist Consultation Camp highlights a positive step forward in creating a more inclusive and accessible healthcare system for the region’s residents.
