Two-Day ‘World of Work’ Workshop Inaugurated at PM SHRI GSSS Prothrapur

A two-day workshop on World of Work (WoW) was inaugurated on Tuesday at PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School, Prothrapur. The workshop is being conducted as a collaborative initiative between the National Assessment Centre PARAKH, NCERT, New Delhi, and the State Institute of Education (SIE), A&N Islands.

The initiative aims to advance the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by promoting skill development and vocational education among students of Classes IX and X in PM SHRI schools across States and Union Territories.

Inaugurating the workshop, Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, Head and CEO of PARAKH and Educational Survey Division, NCERT, highlighted the growing importance of introducing students to the “World of Work” at the secondary level to help them explore diverse career opportunities at an early stage.

The sessions, facilitated by resource persons from PARAKH, are designed to orient students toward both traditional and non-traditional career pathways. During the workshop, participants were introduced to 36 emerging job sectors identified by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, along with global trends such as Artificial Intelligence and other future technologies.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 80 students of Classes IX and X along with their respective class teachers.

Earlier, the Principal of the State Institute of Education (SIE), who attended as the chief guest, stressed the importance of exposing students to a wide range of career options, vocational courses, and essential soft skills at an early stage, according to a press release issued by SIE.
