In a move aimed at promoting greater participation and ensuring the accuracy of demographic details, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had initially provided residents with the opportunity to update their Aadhaar documents online through the my Aadhaar portal free of charge, until September 14, 2023. In light of the positive response from residents, UIDAI has decided to extend this valuable service for an additional three months, from September 15, 2023, to December 14, 2023.

The UIDAI has not only made it convenient for residents to update their Aadhaar documents but has also encouraged individuals to upload their Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents, especially if their Aadhaar was issued a decade ago and has not been updated since. This proactive approach aims to enhance ease of living, improve service delivery, and boost the success rate of authentication processes.

Residents of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands can take advantage of this extended opportunity by visiting the my Aadhaar portal at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ and logging in using their Aadhaar Number. This service is available at no cost to residents during the extended period. In cases where individuals encounter difficulties or require assistance, they may opt to visit the nearest Aadhaar Centre for document updates, with a nominal fee of Rs. 50.

The extension of the free Aadhaar document update facility reflects UIDAI’s commitment to providing a hassle-free experience for residents, ensuring the accuracy of their Aadhaar details, and facilitating improved government services and authentication processes. It is anticipated that this initiative will encourage more residents to take advantage of this convenient service and contribute to the overall improvement of Aadhaar data accuracy.
