Ministry of Power in association with Andaman and Nicobar Administration organised Ujjala Divas at Campbell Bay, Great Nicobar Island as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on 27th July 2022. Ujjala Divas is being celebrated throughout the country with the theme Ujjwal Bharat, Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power@2047. The aim of the celebration was to create awareness among the general public regarding the developments in the power sector.
Mr. Barnabas Manju, Chairman, Tribal Council, Great Nicobar and Little Nicobar was the Chief Guest during the occasion.Â
Mr. Sanjay Kumar Roy, DGM, REC also attended the programme on behalf of the Ministry. Mr. Sanjay Ekka, Up-Pramukh, Mrs. Rupa Tirkey, Panchayat Samiti Member, Campbell Bay, Mr. Venkat Rao, Pradhan, Govind Nagar Panchayat, Mr. Prahlad Singh, Pradhan Laxmi Nagar Panchayat, Mrs. Rajeshwari, Pradhan, Campbell Bay Panchayat and other PRI Members were also present on the occasion.
Mr. P K Singh, Block Development Officer, Campbell Bay Block, Mr. S Murugan, Executive Engineer, Construction Division, Campbell Bay, Mr. Ashok Kumar Mallick, Assistant Engineer, Electricity Department, Campbell Bay also graced the occasion.
Nukkad Natak and other cultural programmes were presented by the students of Govt. Senior Secondary School, Campbell Bay.
General Public & PRI Members appreciated the schemes of the Govt. of India and also appreciated the Electricity Department, Campbell Bay for ensuring uninterrupted supply in Great Nicobar even with limited resources.
Beneficiaries of various Central Govt. Schemes of the Power Sector shared their experiences with the public.
The Department also presented a video with testimonials of the beneficiaries of Power Sector Schemes.
Several video presentations were also streamed during the programme.
