On 9th January 2023, the staff of PS Car Nicobar led by SI JR Krishna and SI Panchu conducted a unique awareness programme. The officers with their staff marched in the Headquarter area of Car Nicobar, walked into different shops and interacted with the public to spread awareness on the consequences of drunken driving, the ill effects of illicit liquor, the modus operandi of some common financial frauds, dangers of triple riding on motorbikes, the importance of following traffic rules and prevention of suicides.
The staff during the march interacted with many members of the general public and the trading community and passed on the message to create awareness and prevent some common petty crimes that the police has to deal with frequently.
The general public and members of the trading community appreciated the efforts of the staff of PS Car Nicobar.
One prominent member of the trading community of Car Nicobar while speaking to Nicobar Times said, ‘such interaction of Police Officials with the general public helps in building confidence and will reduce the fear among individuals in seeking help from police whenever needed’.
Interaction and friendly relations between the police and the public helps in preventing crime and maintaining the law and order in society. Citizen Friendly initiatives by the police should be appreciated and encouraged.
