UT Finance Commission Holds Meeting with Adhyaksh Zilla Parishad South Andaman and Other PRIs

In a significant development for the local governance and development in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the UT Finance Commission, Government of India, led by Mr. Anil Kumar Jha, Chairman, convened a crucial meeting with key officials from Zilla Parishad South Andaman. The meeting, held in the Conference hall of Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, brought together Mr. Prashant Goyal and Mr. Amey Sapre, Members of the Commission, along with Mr. Binay Bhusan, Member Secretary.

The gathering included Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Adhyaksh of Zilla Parishad South Andaman, Chief Executive Officer of ZPSA, Secretary (RD) from A & N Administration, and other prominent members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in the region.

During the meeting, Adhyaksh ZPSA extended a warm welcome to the Commission and provided a detailed overview of the ongoing developmental initiatives spearheaded by the PRIs, particularly highlighting the efforts of ZPSA in South Andaman District. The discussion delved into future development plans, challenges faced by the PRIs, and the constraints encountered in executing projects in the remote islands.

Adhyaksh ZPSA took the opportunity to present a comprehensive charter encompassing issues related to PRIs and other matters crucial to the overall development of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Among those in attendance were the Up-Adhyaksh ZPSA, Zilla Parishad Members, Pramukhs of Panchayat Samities, and Gram Pradhans of South Andaman, reflecting a broad representation of the local governance structure.

Mr. Anil Kumar Jha, the Chairman of the UT Finance Commission, attentively listened to the issues and concerns raised during the meeting. He assured the gathering of the Commission’s commitment to providing continuous support and working towards prompt and effective solutions for the challenges identified.

The meeting concluded with a sense of optimism, as both the UT Finance Commission and the local authorities pledged to collaborate closely for the holistic development of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, addressing the unique challenges faced by the region.
