The Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) Administration has set up a dedicated UT Pavilion at the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj to facilitate pilgrims from the Islands. The Mahakumbh Mela, the largest religious gathering in the world, began on January 13, 2025, on Paush Purnima, and will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26, 2025. Recognized by UNESCO as an ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity,’ the Kumbh Mela holds immense spiritual and cultural significance, often referred to as ‘Sarvasiddhipradaha Kumbh’—the bestower of all accomplishments.

At the request of the Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration, the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP&T) has established the UT Pavilion at Bharadwaj and Harihar Marg Chauraha, Sector-7, Prayagraj. The Mahakumbh Mela Authorities have allocated 5,000 square feet of land for the pavilion, which aims to provide comprehensive support to pilgrims from the Islands.

The pavilion features well-equipped facilities, including two dormitories with a capacity of 20 beds for men and 10 beds for women, complete with separate toilets and bathrooms. Additionally, there is a VIP room with three beds and two spare beds..

To showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Islands, the pavilion also houses an exhibition and sale counter displaying traditional handicrafts, art, and other locally made products. Furthermore, pamphlets highlighting the tourism potential of the A&N Islands are being distributed to visitors, promoting the region’s scenic beauty and tourist attractions.

The A&N Administration has urged pilgrims and devotees from the Islands to utilize the facilities available at the UT Pavilion. A Reception-cum-Help Desk has been set up to assist visitors with queries. For further assistance, individuals can contact Mr. Aman from Mid Shot Agency at +91 9241889061 or Mr. Kishore Kumar at +91 9920300737.

This initiative underscores the A&N Administration’s commitment to ensuring a comfortable and enriching experience for its residents participating in this historic spiritual event. The UT Pavilion stands as a testament to the Islands’ cultural integration and their deep connection with India’s spiritual traditions.
