The Value Added Tax (VAT) Commissionerate of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration has intensified its efforts to curb tax evasion and enforce compliance with the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Value Added Tax Regulation, 2017. As part of this initiative, VAT assessments were conducted for the financial years 2017-18 to 2020-21, uncovering multiple instances of tax deficiencies and violations.

Following these assessments, the department has successfully recovered an additional revenue of ₹56,83,106, comprising ₹16,85,177 in tax and interest and ₹39,97,929 in penalties.

Reaffirming its commitment to protecting the government exchequer, the VAT Commissionerate has warned that violations of tax regulations will not be tolerated. The department has once again urged all registered dealers to adhere strictly to the VAT Regulation, 2017, the Rules 2020, and all associated directives to avoid penalties.

This latest enforcement action underscores the administration’s resolve to ensure tax compliance and maintain financial discipline in the Union Territory.
