Veer Savarkar International Airport has unveiled a cutting-edge Automated Parking System designed to transform the parking experience for passengers and visitors at Port Blair Airport. This innovative system, now operational, aims to streamline the parking process with minimal manual intervention, offering a more efficient and transparent service.
The new system features a range of advanced technologies, including a sensor-based boom barrier, CCTV surveillance, automatic ticket dispensers, and Fastag integration. These upgrades ensure a smooth and hassle-free parking experience, complete with fair and transparent tariffs. Time-stamping technology has been implemented at four strategic locations within the airport and parking areas, enhancing accuracy and ensuring that parking transactions are both reliable and transparent.
The airport awarded the contract for the system’s operation to M/s A.S Multi Services for a five-year period. The facility officially began operations on August 23, 2024.
During the inauguration, Airport Director Mr. Devender Yadav emphasised the importance of this development. “The commencement of this facility marks a major milestone in our journey towards automation, excellence, and preparedness for international flight operations from Port Blair. We are committed to enhancing the overall passenger experience through advanced technology.”
Mr. Yadav also highlighted an upcoming project, Digi Yatra, which is an advanced technology-based passenger processing solution. This initiative will enable contactless and seamless movement of passengers at various airport checkpoints using facial recognition technology.
