All traders, bar establishments, auto-rickshaw owners and other concerned Government and Semi-Government establishments in North & Middle Andaman District have been informed that the Legal Metrology Officers, along with a team from the Directorate of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, will conduct a special camp for verification and stamping of weighing and measuring instruments from 9th to 20th January, 2026.
The camp will cover verification and stamping of all weighing and measuring instruments, including liquor/peg measures, auto fare meters and other such devices used in commercial transactions across the district.
As per the tentative area-wise schedule, the camps will be organised as follows:
- 9th to 13th January, 2026 – Diglipur at the Civil Supply Unit, Diglipur
- 14th January, 2026 – Mayabunder at the Office of the Assistant Director (CS&CA), Mayabunder
- 15th January, 2026 – Billiground at the Panchayat Market, Billiground
- 16th to 18th January, 2026 – Rangat at the Civil Supply Unit, Rangat
- 19th January, 2026 – Kadamtala at the Panchayat Market, Kadamtala
- 20th January, 2026 – Baratang at The CCS Ltd., Baratang
All concerned stakeholders have been advised to ensure that their weighing and measuring instruments are presented for verification and stamping during the scheduled camp in their respective areas.
The authorities have cautioned that use of unverified or faulty weighing and measuring instruments in North & Middle Andaman District after the stipulated period will be viewed seriously. Stringent legal action, as prescribed under the relevant laws, will be initiated against defaulters.
