In a significant step towards improving livestock health and supporting rural livelihoods, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), A&N Administration, conducted a Veterinary Health and Infertility Camp on July 31, 2025, at Ward No. 3, Delanipur, under the jurisdiction of the Veterinary Hospital, Junglighat.

The camp, held at farmers’ premises, was led by Dr. Ramakrishnan, Senior Veterinary Officer, along with a team of supporting staff. It focused on addressing infertility issues in cattle and providing essential healthcare services aimed at enhancing livestock productivity in the region.

During the camp, a total of 31 cattle were examined and treated — including 20 adult cattle, 10 calves, 27 female cattle, and one heifer. Veterinary experts diagnosed and managed several reproductive and health conditions, such as Cervicitis, Metritis, Anoestrus, and Mastitis. Treatments included the administration of Buserelin Acetate, Amoxycillin with Sulbactam, Meloxicam, Albendazole and Oxyclozanide liquid dewormers.

To promote better overall animal health and milk production, farmers were also provided with digestive supplements, mineral powders, and milk production enhancement powders.

The camp highlighted the importance of targeted veterinary interventions in addressing reproductive challenges, improving animal health, and ultimately increasing economic returns for the farming community. By bringing veterinary services directly to farmers’ doorsteps, the initiative ensured timely treatment and promoted sustainable animal husbandry practices.

The active participation of local farmers reflected their commitment to improving animal welfare. The AH&VS Department has reiterated its commitment to conducting similar outreach initiatives across other wards, in alignment with the A&N Administration’s broader vision of promoting sustainable agriculture and strengthening rural livelihoods across the Islands.
