The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), A&N Administration, organised a Veterinary Health and Infertility Camp on August 7, 2025, at Ranchi Basti, Ward No. 15, under the jurisdiction of the Veterinary Hospital, Junglighat. The initiative aimed at tackling infertility in cattle, improving livestock health, and supporting farmers’ livelihoods.

During the camp, several cattle — including adult cows, heifers, and calves — were examined and treated. The veterinary team diagnosed a case of pyometra (metritis) and administered appropriate treatment. To enhance animal health and productivity, the department distributed 3 kg of Growmin Forte (mineral supplement), 1 kg of MilkUp (milk production enhancer), and 1,200 ml of dewormer to farmers.

The programme, conducted at farmers’ premises, allowed direct access to veterinary care for the Ranchi Basti community. Experts also advised farmers on best practices in cattle management, stressing the importance of timely medical attention and proper nutrition for improving fertility and milk yield.

The department said the initiative is part of its ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable livestock management and strengthening rural economies in the Islands. Similar camps are planned in other wards to ensure farmers across the region have access to quality animal healthcare services.
