The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will mark its foundation day (STHAPNA DIWAS), with a week-long celebration. The celebration began on the auspicious occasions of Raksha Bandhan and will continue till Janmashtami. The VHP orchestrated a series of events across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the VHP initiated the celebration by tying Raksha Sutra, the sacred thread symbolising protection, and distributing sweets to individuals from various walks of life throughout the A&N Islands. The VHP Karyakartas (volunteers) played a pivotal role in organising these heartwarming activities, spreading joy and fostering unity.
One of the remarkable highlights of this celebration was the recognition and appreciation bestowed upon the dedicated Sanitary Workers, who tirelessly work to maintain cleanliness in the municipal council area of Port Blair. VHP Karyakartas tied Raksha Sutra to these workers, acknowledging their tireless efforts in keeping the Island clean.
Similar programs were organised in various locations across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by enthusiastic Vishwa Hindu Parishad Karyakartas. People from diverse backgrounds participated with great enthusiasm, demonstrating their interest and support for these cultural celebrations. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and the events helped foster a sense of harmony and unity within the community.
As the week-long festivities continue, the VHP’s celebration of Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami serves as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage and traditions that bring people together in the spirit of love and brotherhood. These events not only strengthen bonds but also promote social cohesion and appreciation for the diverse tapestry of the A&N Islands.
VHP will organise several competitions during the week leading to its foundation day.
