Vice President of India Cup Soccer Championship: A&N Command and Chowra Advance to Semi-Finals

The XXVI Vice President of India Cup Soccer Championship 2024-25 is in full swing at BJR Stadium, Tamaloo, with thrilling encounters keeping football enthusiasts on the edge of their seats.

On February 14, two gripping quarter-final matches unfolded, producing moments of high drama and intense competition.

In the first quarter-final, A&N Command squared off against Car Nicobar in a tightly contested match. Despite both teams displaying exceptional skill, the match ended in a goalless draw (0-0) at full time. The tension carried into extra time, where neither side managed to break the deadlock. Ultimately, A&N Command triumphed in the tie-breaker, securing a 3-2 victory on penalties and booking their spot in the next stage. Dr. Johnson Sameer, Medical Superintendent of BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar, was the chief guest for the match.

The second quarter-final saw Wimberlygunj take on Chowra in another fiercely fought contest. The match ended in a 1-1 draw at full time, forcing an extra-time showdown. With neither team able to find the winning goal, the match went into a penalty shootout. Chowra delivered a commanding performance, winning the shootout 3-0, securing an overall 4-1 victory. The match was graced by Mr. Akash Kishen, Executive Engineer, CD, APWD, Car Nicobar, as the chief guest.

Upcoming Quarter-Final Matches

The tournament continues on February 15, 2025, with two more quarter-final clashes at BJR Stadium, Car Nicobar. The first match at 1:30 PM will feature Nancowrie taking on Little Andaman. Later, at 3:00 PM, Katchal will face off against Sri Vijaya Puram. (Story Based on a PR)
