On September 7, 2021, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, launched Vidyanjali 2.0, a school volunteer program aimed at enhancing the quality of school education by fostering community involvement. The program was introduced during the inaugural conclave of Shikshak Parv 2021 and is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Vidyanjali 2.0 invites a wide array of volunteers, including retired professionals, teachers, artists, alumni, NGOs, and corporate sectors, to directly contribute to the growth of government and government-aided schools. Volunteers can offer their knowledge and skills to improve the educational experience, while also providing schools with essential assets, materials, and equipment. The program, however, does not accept financial donations.

Through the Vidyanjali 2.0 portal, volunteers can select schools of their choice and contribute in various categories. These include subject assistance, teaching art and craft, yoga, sports, and vocational skills. Volunteers can also mentor students, provide career counselling, and sponsor school events or camps. In addition to services, contributions may include the development of infrastructure, supplying equipment for extracurricular activities, and supporting the maintenance of schools.

Those interested in participating can register on the official portal at https://vidyanjali.education.gov.in. With 323 schools already registered, the initiative aims to build a stronger educational future, especially in regions like the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. For further assistance, volunteers may contact the Vidyanjali 2.0 Coordinator, Mr. B. Neelaiah on 9434293379.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving the education system by actively involving the community in shaping the future of young learners.
