The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a visionary initiative aimed at empowering communities and spreading awareness about government welfare schemes, commenced with great fervour in Car Nicobar. Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar District, marked the beginning of the Van campaign for the Yatra amidst a gathering that included Mr. Manjeet Sheoran, IPS, Superintendent of Police, and various officers from line departments on 28th November 2023.
The van was welcomed at Perka Village by the Tribal Community, who greeted its arrival with a traditional cultural program, embracing the spirit of the occasion. Moving forward, Priydarshini Hall hosted a video screening of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, followed by the administration of the Sankalp Pledge to local Tribal Leaders and villagers.
Students from JNV, Car Nicobar, took centre stage, presenting a culturally rich program themed ‘Dharti Kahe Pukaar Ke’. Their performance aimed to educate the audience about the diverse benefits of ongoing Government of India schemes catering to different segments of society.
The Yatra’s core focus revolves around community outreach, fostering awareness, and providing insights into welfare schemes such as Ujjwala LPG Connection, food security, proper nutrition, and access to clean drinking water.
The program itself became a platform for immediate service delivery as various line departments offered on-the-spot services to the public. The Health Department conducted health check-ups and TB screenings, while the Agriculture Department and KVK demonstrated bio-farming technologies through ‘Satak Krishi’. Individual beneficiaries shared success stories and benefits availed through Government schemes via ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’. Health Cards, Soil Health Cards, Ujjwala registrations, and other essentials were distributed during the event.
Highlighting exceptional contributions to society, Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, felicitated prominent figures across various fields. Encouraging active participation, she urged the public to make the most of the on-the-spot services available.
Mr. Singh Piyush Vijaykaran, Assistant Commissioner (HQ), outlined that the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ is set to continue its journey till December 1, 2023, spanning across different locations within Car Nicobar.
