The Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, a voluntary organization dedicated to the service, organization and holistic development of tribal communities across the country, will organize a “Virat Vanvasi Sammelan” on March 21, 2026, at Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad School, Basantipur, Badam Nala, in Middle Andaman. The programme will commence at 3 pm.

The Ashram has been working for the welfare of tribal communities in India for over seven decades and has maintained a presence in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the past four decades. Its activities in the islands extend among tribal communities, including those from the Chota Nagpur region, commonly known as the Ranchi community, as well as certain indigenous groups.

Over the years, the organization has undertaken several initiatives aimed at promoting self-reliance and overall development. These include the operation of boys’ and girls’ hostels for students from remote areas, enabling them to pursue education, and a Dharamshala at its state office in Sri Vijaya Puram, which provides accommodation to individuals visiting the capital for medical treatment, education, employment and travel purposes.

In addition to its permanent projects, the Ashram regularly conducts youth awareness camps, medical and legal awareness programmes, women’s gatherings, free coaching classes for competitive examinations, career guidance sessions and sports activities to encourage participation at the national level. It has also established 84 temples across the islands to preserve indigenous faith, traditions and cultural practices, where major tribal festivals are celebrated.

As part of its continued efforts for the upliftment of tribal society and preservation of indigenous culture, the upcoming Sammelan aims to promote awareness and unity among tribal communities.

Mr. Atul Jog, National Organising Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, will be the chief speaker at the event, while Param Pujneeya Swami Aseemanand Ji Maharaj will deliver the benedictory address. The programme will also feature cultural performances, including traditional tribal folk dances.

An organizing committee has been constituted to ensure the smooth conduct of the Sammelan. The committee has appealed to the public to participate in large numbers and make the event a success.
