In a recent development, Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former State President of the BJP-ANI, has submitted a request to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar (A & N) Administration, the Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, and the Secretary of Higher Education in the A & N Administration. The appeal seeks to reschedule the university exams to avoid overlapping with the recruitment exams conducted by the A & N Administration.
In a letter addressed to the concerned authorities, Mr. Jolly highlighted that Pondicherry University had initially released a tentative schedule for various CBCS-UG/PG (Arts & Science) course examinations. These exams were scheduled to take place from July 20, 2023, onwards, and a significant number of students from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands were expected to participate at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidhyalaya and other colleges affiliated with Pondicherry University.
However, Mr. Jolly pointed out that the university has recently issued a “fresh” schedule of examinations, advancing the dates from July 20 to July 12, 2023. This change creates a conflict with the ongoing recruitment exams being conducted by the A & N Administration. He emphasized that the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, had issued a directive for a targeted recruitment drive to fill 10,00,000 vacant posts under the Central Government and Union Territories. Similar recruitment processes were already underway in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with various physical and written examinations scheduled between July 9 and July 15, 2023.
Expressing concern, Mr. Jolly highlighted the overlapping dates and explained that many students planning to write the university exams were also aspiring candidates for the recruitment exams. He emphasized that both exams held significant importance for the students’ respective careers and that it would be difficult for them to attend or participate in both simultaneously.
In light of this situation, Mr. Jolly urged the authorities to consider two potential solutions. The first option would be to postpone the Pondicherry University exams to a later date in the following month. Alternatively, the exams could be held as per the previously released tentative schedule issued on June 21, 2023. Mr. Jolly emphasized that such measures would be in the best interest of the students and aspiring candidates, ensuring they have the opportunity to excel in both examinations.
As the request for rescheduling the university exams gains attention, the students and aspiring candidates await a response from the Chief Secretary, the Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, and the Secretary of Higher Education in the A & N Administration. Their decision will have a significant impact on the academic pursuits and career prospects of numerous individuals in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
