Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member, Bharatiya Janata Party and Former State President, BJP, Andaman and Nicobar Islands wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration requesting posting of a Gynaecologist at CHC, Diglipur.
Mr. Jolly in his letter highlighted the sufferings of the pregnant women of Diglipur.
He mentioned in his letter that a Gynaecologist was posted at Diglipur earlier but again a vacancy has arisen for the post as the officer left.
He added that at present there is no Gynaecologist in the entire Diglipur region, which is not only sad but worrisome.
Mr. Vishal Jolly wrote in his letter that a large population of the Island resides in the Diglipur region, and the pregnant women residing in the area have no choice but to travel to Port Blair for Medical interventions and delivery.
He also informed that at least two to four pregnant women travel to Port Blair on every helicopter service due to non-availability of a Gynaecologist at Diglipur.
He requested the Chief Secretary to post at least one Gynaecologist at CHC Diglipur in larger interest of the people of the region.
