In a formal complaint addressed to the Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has alleged the dissemination of false, defamatory, and derogatory statements against him through audio recordings circulated on social media platforms.
The complaint highlights that during the election campaign, Mr. Jolly became aware of audio recordings containing conversations between unidentified individuals, which purportedly contained defamatory remarks targeting him. These recordings, Mr. Jolly asserts, not only tarnish his reputation but also aim to disrupt the communal harmony of the islands by promoting enmity among different linguistic and religious groups.
Expressing concern over the potential damage to communal harmony, Mr. Jolly emphasised that the content of the circulated audio recordings is inflammatory and could incite discord among residents of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He further lamented that the dissemination of these recordings has caused outrage among various segments of the population, contributing to a negative perception of both himself and the BJP.
In his plea to the Director General of Police, Mr. Jolly urged the following actions:
a) Initiation of Legal Action: He requested the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) based on his complaint and the audio recordings provided as evidence.
b) Halting Further Circulation: Mr. Jolly appealed for immediate steps to cease the dissemination of the audio recordings across all social media platforms.
c) Investigation: He called for a thorough investigation to identify the individuals responsible for creating and circulating the defamatory content.
d) Prompt Action: Mr. Jolly urged swift and decisive action against those found guilty of wrongdoing.
Additionally, copies of the complaint have been forwarded to key BJP officials, including Mr. B.L. Santhosh, National General Secretary-(Org), BJP, and Mr. Raghunath Kulkarni, National Executive Committee Member and Co-Prabhari for BJP, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The complaint underscores the seriousness with which Mr. Jolly and the BJP view the circulation of such damaging and inflammatory content.
