Vishal Jolly Requests Joint Survey and Sanction of Compensation for Diglipur Flood Victims

Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member, Bharatiya Janata Party, Former State President, BJP, A&N Islands & Member, Home Ministry Advisory Committee has urged the Administration to conduct a joint survey to assess the extent of damage caused by the flood in Diglipur. Mr. Vishal Jolly was on a visit to North and Middle Andaman recently. During his visit, Mr. Vishal Jolly visited the flood-affected areas of Diglipur. He particularly visited Subhash Gram, R K Gram, Nabagram, Sitanagar, D B Gram and Madhupur to assess the situation.

In his letter to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Jolly mentioned that a severe flood has caused significant loss to the property of the residents. He added that houses, ration articles, agriculture produce, livestock, electronic appliances, fishery farm and crops have been damaged causing huge financial loss to the residents. He added that islanders are already reeling under the pandemic and at the same time the flood has caused heavy damage to their properties and those affected are seeking adequate compensation from the Administration for their losses. 

Mr. Jolly mentioned that he visited the flood-affected areas, held discussions with those affected and as per his assessment the impact of the flood on the residents is severe. Mr. Vishal Jolly mentioned that the damage is required to be ascertained by deputing a Joint Survey team comprising of members from the Agriculture Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Fisheries Department and Revenue Department. He added that the move of the administration to conduct the ongoing survey to grant compensation/relief is a welcome step. 

Mr. Vishal Jolly concluded by requesting that a separate Joint Survey team comprising of members from the Agriculture Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Fisheries Department and Revenue Department should be deputed to assess the damage caused by the flood and appropriate relief/compensation should be sanctioned to those affected by the flood as soon as possible.
