Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member, Bharatiya Janata Party, Former State President, BJP – ANI and Member, Home Ministry Advisory Committee, GoI has requested the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Islands to provide temporary shelter to Nayagaon landslide victims. A  severe landslide had occurred at Nayagaon recently due to earth cutting for a defence construction project.

Mr. Jolly recently visited Shadipur Govt. School wherein 18 families of Doctors’ colony (Nayagaon) were temporarily shifted and accommodated due to the damage caused to their houses.

Mr. Jolly has welcomed the move of the Administration to shift the affected families to the Govt. School Building, Shadipur.

Mr. Jolly in his letter addressed to the Chief Secretary has informed that the affected families are facing a lot of hardship due to non-availability of basic facilities such as toilets, bathing complexes and because of the poor condition of the area where they have been shifted. He added that the families are facing a lot of inconvenience due to the pathetic and unhygienic living conditions.

He requested the Chief Secretary to make necessary arrangements to shift the affected families to any available/vacant Govt. Residential Accommodation/Quarters temporarily, where these families can live comfortably. He further requested the Chief Secretary to provide some relief to the families so that they may repair their respective houses.
