Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member, Bharatiya Janata Party & Former State President, BJP, A & N Islands recently wrote a letter to Chief Secretary, A & N Administration regarding the pathetic condition of M. V. Swaraj Dweep and requested for immediate repair of the Air Conditioners onboard the ship.
In his letter, Mr. Jolly highlighted the serious problem being faced by the poor islanders, which requires immediate attention. He mentioned that ships are considered to be the lifeline of the lower middle class families of our Islands. Especially during the summer vacations, the ship journey between Port Blair, Chennai, Visakhapatnam & Kolkata remains in high demand.
He further added that due to the ongoing repair works being carried out at VSI Airport, the demand for ship travel in Island-Mainland sector has increased.
He mentioned that it was reported, the travellers travelling in M. V. Swaraj Dweep on its recent journey from Port Blair to Visakhapatnam have suffered immensely as the Air Conditioning onboard the ship was not working.
He further informed that the passengers including women and children had to sleep on the open deck because of non-functional air conditioners. He also mentioned that the passengers onboard the ship also complained of water scarcity.
Mr. Vishal Jolly informed that the ship is scheduled to sail for Visakhapatnam from Port Blair on 29th April 2023, and requested that all Air Conditioners be repaired before the next sailing.
