Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Former State President BJP, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has written to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, advocating for installation of floodlights at Netaji Stadium in Port Blair.

Highlighting the cultural significance of cricket in India, Mr. Jolly emphasized the sport’s role as a beloved pastime for many. He underscored the increasing importance of night cricket, expressing the desire for cricketers and enthusiasts in the Islands to have the opportunity to engage in and enjoy both day and night formats.

In his letter, Mr. Jolly drew attention to the presence of floodlights and towers at Netaji Stadium in the past, which once facilitated night cricket. Unfortunately, these facilities have deteriorated over time, leading to the discontinuation of night cricket. To reignite enthusiasm for cricket and other sports, Mr. Jolly proposed the urgent erection of floodlight towers at Netaji Stadium.

In his plea to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Jolly stressed the need for prompt action to initiate the erection of towers and installation of floodlights. The goal is to revive night cricket at Netaji Stadium, providing a conducive environment for sporting activities at all hours. He highlighted that this move would not only benefit cricket but also promote an active and healthy lifestyle among the residents.
