Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Committee Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former State President of BJP-Andaman and Nicobar Islands (ANI), has penned a compelling letter to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, urging immediate alternative arrangements for the resumption of ferry services between Long Island and Yeratta.
In his correspondence, Mr. Jolly highlighted the critical issue that has disrupted daily life for residents of Long Island. The letter shed light on a “WARNING NOTICE” issued by the Port Management Board on September 21, 2023, which abruptly ordered the cessation of all operations at Yeratta Jetty. This decision has led to the complete halt of shipping and related activities at the jetty.
Mr. Jolly expressed deep concern over the repercussions of this abrupt halt, particularly for the general public, students, and the business community of Long Island. The ferry boats served as their primary means of transportation between Long Island and Yeratta, making them crucial for daily life and commerce in the region.
The BJP leader further noted that the sudden disruption of all shipping services has caused immense hardship for the residents of Long Island. The lack of transportation options has severely impeded their ability to commute, access essential services, and conduct business activities on which their livelihoods depend.
Consequently, Mr. Vishal Jolly appealed to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to intervene urgently. He requested that the concerned authorities take immediate action to formulate alternative arrangements for the travel and transportation of Long Island residents, effectively mitigating the ongoing hardship and inconvenience they face.
