As the General Election-2024 approaches, a creative initiative aimed at voter awareness took centre stage at Corbyn’s Cove recently. Organized by the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) team, the event utilised the medium of ‘Sand Art’ to convey a vital message to the public.
The captivating sand art portrayed the theme ‘Chunav Ka Parv- Desh Ka Garv’ (Festival of Elections – Pride of the Nation) along with the tagline ‘Nothing like Voting, I will Vote for Sure,’. This artistic endeavour aimed to encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote, emphasising the significance of active participation in the democratic process.
Mr. Arjun Sharma, the Returning Officer of the A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency (ANIPC), graced the event with his presence at Corbyn’s Cove. Impressed by the initiative, he commended the SVEEP team for their dedication to raising awareness among voters. He stressed the importance of voting, urging citizens to participate on the polling day scheduled for April 19, 2024, to uphold the principles of a healthy democracy.
Accompanying Mr. Sharma was Mr. Wairokpam Punshiba Singh, IAS, the Nodal Officer of SVEEP, who also lent his support to the cause. The event witnessed significant public turnout, with numerous individuals gathering to witness the mesmerising sand art creation crafted by Mr. Suresh Kumar, PGT (Fine Art), along with his team.
The voter awareness program through ‘Sand Art’ served as a creative and impactful method to engage the public and instill a sense of responsibility towards electoral participation. With the General Election-2024 on the horizon, initiatives like these play a crucial role in fostering an informed and active electorate, essential for the continued health of the democratic process.
