As part of its ongoing efforts to promote awareness on the judicious use of water, the Andaman and Nicobar Administration organized a water awareness programme titled “Water Concert” at the District Headquarters of North and Middle Andaman in Mayabunder recently.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of residents, public representatives and Government officials, reflecting the community’s collective commitment towards sustainable water management and conservation.

The initiative aimed to sensitize the general public about responsible water usage, with emphasis on the judicious consumption of drinking water, prevention of wastage and the reuse of water for secondary purposes wherever feasible. Through various awareness activities and interactive sessions, participants were encouraged to adopt water-saving practices in their daily lives and contribute towards conserving this vital natural resource.

A key highlight of the event was a cultural segment featuring melodious performances and dances that effectively conveyed the message of water conservation. The programme also included an oath-taking ceremony conducted through a signature campaign, during which attendees pledged their commitment to the responsible use of water. The campaign symbolized a collective resolve to safeguard water resources for present and future generations.

The event was attended by the Chief Engineer of the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD), the Additional District Magistrate, senior officers from various departments, public representatives and members of the local community.

The programme was organized by Team APWD, Mayabunder, under the aegis of the Andaman Public Works Department. The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Administration to strengthen public awareness and encourage community participation in water conservation across the islands.

The Administration has also appealed to citizens to adopt water-saving measures and support the collective mission of ensuring sustainable water resources in the Union Territory.
