Repairs on all three gravity raw-water pipelines carrying supply from Dhanikhari Dam to the Lamba Line and Garacharma water-treatment plants have been completed, officials announced on Thursday. The damaged mains—whose breakdown had prompted Press Releases on 26–27 May—were brought back online, allowing both treatment facilities to resume operations.

Although pumping has restarted, engineers cautioned that the plants will need several days to ramp up to full capacity. Until then, neighbourhoods fed by the Lamba Line plant—Buniyadabad, Police Line, All India Radio Colony and Ranchi Basti—as well as areas supplied by the Garacharma Command Tank may experience reduced pressure or staggered distribution.

Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council’s water-supply wing has been asked to ensure no locality is left without service during the next seven days, the Press Release from Andaman Public Works Department (PWD) said.

Residents, commercial premises and institutions have been urged to use potable water sparingly while systems stabilize. Judicious consumption now will help the city return to normal supply more quickly.

Officials expect full restoration of regular schedules within a week, barring unforeseen contingencies.
