A & N Islands is seeing a surge in COVID-19 cases everyday. Several restrictions have been imposed in all three districts of the Islands to protect citizens from contracting the deadly virus. We have already lost 10 valuable lives in the second wave of the pandemic, but citizens are still showing height of irresponsibility by flouting all COVID norms.
Several customers of Canara Bank were seen queued up without any social distancing at its Port Blair – II Branch, located at Mohanpura at 9:30 Am on 7th May 2021. It was surprising to see that many of them were wearing their masks below their nose.
The scene was really disturbing and if this behaviour of general public continues, it would become really difficult to stop the spread and control the situation.
The recent restrictions have already started creating a lot of financial issues for the daily wage workers and other poor sections of the society, such irresponsible behaviour will only keep extending such restrictions in the Islands.
Banking Services are essential, but it is not more important than staying healthy and safe. Citizens need to understand that by flouting COVID norms they are not just risking their lives, but also becoming a threat for their family and society.
It’s high time we understand that the situation is grim and take all precautions for ourselves, our families and our society.
