The Meteorological Department has issued a weather report indicating the likelihood of thunderstorms with lightning in various parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands over the coming days. On June 1, thunderstorms with lightning are expected at one or two places across the region. Furthermore, on June 2, thunderstorms with lightning, accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph, are expected in the Andaman Islands, while thunderstorms with lightning are anticipated in the Nicobar Islands. The weather conditions are expected to persist on June 3 and 4, with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) occurring in one or two places throughout the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
To ensure public safety, fishermen have been strongly advised against venturing into the South Andaman Sea until June 3 due to the anticipated strong Southwest monsoon current. The weather conditions are expected to result in wind speeds between 40-50 kmph in this area, posing risks to maritime activities.
