A woman licensee has been booked by the Pahargaon Police Station for storing firecrackers beyond the permissible limit at a retail cracker godown located at Teylorabad village under Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil.
As per the FIR (No. 127/2025) registered at Pahargaon Police Station, a surprise inspection was carried out on October 14, 2025, by the Tehsildar and Executive Magistrate, Sri Vijaya Puram, along with a team of Revenue officials and police personnel. During the inspection of the retail cracker godown situated on land bearing Survey No. 203/58/40 at Teylorabad, which is used for storage of firecrackers for retail sale, it was found that the woman licensee had stored an excess quantity of crackers and firework products beyond the limit permitted under her licence.
A total of 151 cartons of firecrackers were found at the premises. The godown and the stored items were subsequently sealed, and a seizure memo was prepared on the spot. A detailed report of the inspection was submitted to higher authorities by the Tehsildar.
A case has been registered under Section 9B of the Explosives Act, 1884 against the woman licensee.
Storing firecrackers in excess of the permitted quantity in such retail godowns poses a serious fire hazard. Uncontrolled stockpiling of fireworks can lead to accidental explosions, endangering lives, property, and nearby establishments.
