A workshop on the extended policy of ‘Ayushman Bharat – PMJAY for people aged 70 years and above’ was conducted by the State Health Agency (the implementing agency of AB-PMJAY) for Common Service Centre (CSC) owners of South Andaman on 14th December 2024. The event took place in the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Health Services in Sri Vijaya Puram.
The newly extended policy under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) ensures cashless treatment worth ₹5 lakh for all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, with eligibility determined solely by the age recorded in their Aadhaar Card, regardless of their economic status. Senior citizens enrolled under the scheme will receive the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card.
Dr. P. Lal, the Nodal Officer for AB-PMJAY, delivered an overview of the process for creating the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card for individuals aged 70 and above. He also outlined the eligibility criteria and explained key aspects of the AB-PMJAY scheme. The aim of the workshop was to educate CSC owners about the inclusion of all senior citizens aged 70 and above in the national health insurance scheme.
Senior citizens who meet the age requirement can enroll in the scheme by visiting the official website at pmjay.gov.in or by approaching their nearest Common Service Centre to create their Ayushman Vay Vandana Card.
