A Hindi workshop was organized on 21st August 2024, at the Police Headquarters’ auditorium, aimed at encouraging the use of the official language among the officers and staff of the Andaman and Nicobar Police. The event saw active participation from various units within the department.
The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Ajay Krishna Sharma, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (HQ). During his inaugural address, Mr. Sharma underscored the importance of Hindi as India’s official language. He urged the staff not to hesitate in using Hindi and to take full advantage of the workshop to enhance their language skills. He further appealed to the police personnel and officers to increase their use of Hindi in official work, with the goal of making the department a model for the implementation of official language rules and policies. Mr. Sharma also provided guidance on how to effectively integrate Hindi into their daily operations.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Mr. Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (CID), who served as the Chief Guest. Mr. Tyagi expressed his satisfaction with the organization of the workshop and emphasized that adherence to official language rules is not just recommended but mandatory. He highlighted Hindi’s simplicity and urged the staff to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop in their official duties. Following his address, Mr. Tyagi distributed certificates to the participants, acknowledging their commitment to improving their Hindi proficiency.
The workshop also featured lectures by Mr. Ajay Singh, Junior Translation Officer, who provided valuable insights into the use of Hindi in official contexts.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Rohit Gupta, Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ), who welcomed the Chief Guests and other dignitaries. The program was conducted by Mrs. Tarke Ling Tete from the department’s Hindi Unit, ensuring the smooth execution of the day’s activities.
This workshop marks a significant step in promoting the use of Hindi within the Andaman and Nicobar Police Department, aligning with the broader objective of strengthening the implementation of official language policies across the region.
