The Department of Agriculture celebrated World Coconut Day at the Rajiv Nagar Community Hall in Campbell Bay, promoting the global importance of coconuts under the theme “Coconut for a Circular Economy: Building Partnerships for Maximum Value.”
The event aimed to highlight the versatility of coconuts in agriculture, nutrition, and the broader economy. A Recipe and Handicrafts Competition formed the core of the celebration, showcasing innovative coconut-themed creations. Participants competed on the basis of skill and quality, with entries ranging from unique recipes to intricate handicrafts.
The event was graced by prominent local figures. The Assistant Director (Agriculture), Department of Agriculture, addressed the gathering, underlining the significance of the coconut in building a sustainable economy. Mr. Barnabas, Chairman of the Tribal Council, attended as the chief guest, while Dr. Sanjhali Soren, Senior Veterinary Officer, and Mr. Sanjay Ekka, Up-Pramukh, served as guests of honour.
This celebration not only fostered awareness about the coconut’s potential but also emphasised the importance of building partnerships to maximise its value across industries.
