World Egg Day Celebrated at Balika Niketan and Ulhas Old Age Home

The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, celebrated World Egg Day at Balika Niketan and Ulhas Old Age Home, Dollygunj.

Dr. K.A. Naveen, Director (AH&VS), who graced the occasion as the chief guest, highlighted this year’s theme — “The Mighty Egg: Packed with Natural Nutrition.” He emphasized that eggs are a powerhouse of essential nutrients, containing high-quality protein, healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, choline, and antioxidants like lutein, making them a complete food that supports health at every stage of life.

Senior Veterinary Officers and the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Balika Niketan also spoke on the importance of eggs in improving nutritional security and promoting public health.

To mark the occasion, drawing, poem, and speech competitions were organized for the children, who participated enthusiastically. The AH&VS Department felicitated the participants for their efforts and engagement.

As part of the celebration, eggs were distributed among the children of Balika Niketan to promote nutritional awareness and encourage the inclusion of eggs in daily diets. The event highlighted the incredible versatility and global significance of eggs as a vital and affordable source of nutrition.
