XUV 300 Nosedives Into Sea at Junglighat Jetty; 2 Dead, 1 Rescued

One Mahindra XUV 300 nose-dived into the sea from Junglighat Jetty on 15th August 2021 with three friends inside. The driver and the passenger sitting in the front seat reportedly lost their lives because of drowning. The passenger sitting at the back seat managed to open the door and caught hold of a rope until he was rescued.

Nicobar Times spoke to the rescued passenger and he informed us that he and his friends had visited Junglighat Jetty in two vehicles to meet a friend who works in one of the speed boats of Directorate of Shipping Services. The other vehicle with them had left the jetty and while returning back the driver of their vehicle couldn’t turn the vehicle properly, the vehicle dived into the sea. The rescued passenger further informed that he and his friends were partying since morning indicating that they were under the influence of alcohol.

Two young souls lost their lives in this incident. The vehicle has been rescued with the help of cranes.
