In a testament to the burgeoning talent among the youth of the Andaman Islands, a gripping thriller short film titled “Deception” has emerged, produced entirely on zero budget and filmed guerrilla-style in just three days.
Lead actor Sohail, known for his work in Bollywood TV serials and series, including appearances in popular Netflix productions like “Kaalapani,” spearheads the cast. His co-star, Navjot, a Port Blair native without prior acting experience, delivers a commendable performance alongside Sohail.
The mastermind behind the camera is Nabil Naidu, a filmmaker hailing from Great Nicobar Island. Naidu took on multiple roles, from writing and directing to cinematography and editing, alongside a dedicated crew comprising Rajesh Koremella, Anuragaran, Vivek Vaahi, and Aditya Minj.
Naidu’s directorial vision extends beyond the screen, aiming to inspire budding filmmakers with the belief that a compelling narrative and talented performers trump the need for lavish equipment. His portfolio includes sci-fi shorts and documentaries showcased on his YouTube channel, marking him as an aspiring filmmaker with a mission.
“Deception” captivates audiences with its seamless execution, boasting flawless acting, cinematography, editing, and sound design. The film premiered on Nabil Naidu’s YouTube channel at 5 PM today. The film has set a milestone for Andaman Island’s burgeoning film community.
Naidu’s venture not only entertains but also underscores the immense potential harboured by the region’s youth, signalling a promising future for the Andaman Islands’ cinematic landscape.
