Zero-Tolerance Against Crime: PS Pahargaon Arrests Attempt to Murder Case Accused

Pahargaon police have apprehended a man accused of attempting to murder his wife in Shiv Colony, Dollygunj, underscoring their zero-tolerance policy against crime.

The incident came to light on January 17, 2025, following a complaint lodged by Mrs. Pinki Biswas, a resident of Dollygunj. According to the complaint, family disputes and frequent arguments between the couple had escalated dangerously. On January 16, 2025, during a heated altercation, her husband allegedly assaulted her with a daav (a sharp weapon) in an attempt to take her life.

Mrs. Biswas managed to escape the attack and was promptly rescued by a PCR vehicle. She was initially treated at PHC Garacharma before being referred to GB Pant Hospital for advanced medical care.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Pahargaon police registered a case of attempt to murder and formed a special team under the leadership of Inspector Mohd Elias, Station House Officer, Police Station Pahargaon. The team, comprising SI Jyothi and constables L. Horo, S. Banu, and Sameer Kerketta, swiftly arrested the accused, identified as Prabhash Mondal (56), son of the late Prohlad Mondal, a resident of Shiv Colony, Dollygunj. The weapon used in the assault was also recovered during the operation.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Vikas, IPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (South Andaman), and Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
