In a decisive move during a recent house meeting, the Zilla Parishad South Andaman, chaired by Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Adhyaksh, announced the naming of their office building as ‘Atal Bhawan’. The decision, made on November 16, 2023, aimed to pay homage to the late former Prime Minister of India, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a recipient of the prestigious Bharat Ratna award.
The meeting witnessed the presence of Ms. R Smitha, IAS, CEO of Zilla Parishad South Andaman, who serves as the ex-officio Secretary, alongside 14 Zilla Parishad Members. The unanimous decision to name the Zilla Parishad South Andaman Building reflected a collective acknowledgment of Mr. Vajpayee’s significant contributions to the nation.
In addition to this commemorative decision, the gathering also addressed various developmental initiatives focusing on the rural areas of South Andaman.
The naming of the office building stands as a symbolic gesture, recognising the enduring legacy of a statesman and leader whose vision continues to inspire generations across India.
