Zonal Agriculture Office Launches Scientific Beekeeping Training Across Diglipur Panchayats

The Zonal Agriculture Office, Diglipur, under the Department of Agriculture, A&N Administration, in collaboration with the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) of the National Bee Board, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, organized a two-day training programme on “Scientific Beekeeping” at the Rural Knowledge Centre in Nabagram on June 25 and 26.

The inaugural session was graced by Ms. Pratima Roy, Pradhan of Nabagram Panchayat, who urged the participants to adopt beekeeping and take full advantage of the benefits extended under various departmental schemes. Mr. Marshal Toppo, Up-Pradhan, also encouraged farmers to engage in honeybee rearing by leveraging the support available under the High Value Agriculture scheme.

Ms. Arti Singh, Assistant Director (Agriculture), Diglipur, opened the programme by briefing attendees on the objectives of the training, emphasizing the importance of scientific methods in beekeeping to improve agricultural productivity and enhance farmers’ income.

Following this event, similar training programmes are planned for farmers and SHG members in other Panchayats. The sessions will be held at the Panchayat Hall in Kalighat on June 27 and 28, at Sitanagar on July 2 and 3, at Shibpur on July 4 and 5, at Keralapuram on July 9 and 10, at Subashgram on July 11 and 12, and at Madhupur on July 16 and 17.

Farmers and SHG members interested in participating have been requested to register their names at the nearest Agriculture sub-depot. To support beekeeping activities, beehive boxes with accessories are available at all Sub-depots in Diglipur Tehsil. Interested farmers can procure these units and claim subsidies under the High Value Agriculture scheme, according to a press release from the Assistant Director (Agriculture), Diglipur.
