The Education Department of Car Nicobar organised a vibrant Zonal Level Science, Maths, Arts, and Craft Exhibition at the Priyadarshini Auditorium in Tamaloo on 8th November. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar District, who was the chief guest, with Mr. Lionald Nicomede, Chairman of the Tribal Council, gracing the occasion as the guest of honour.
The exhibition began with the ceremonial lighting of the traditional lamp by the chief guest, signalling the start of a showcase highlighting the creativity and innovation of the young minds across the district.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Ms. Jyoti Kumari praised the students’ enthusiasm for Science, evident in their remarkable projects. She emphasized that while subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics often seem challenging, they have a significant impact on our daily lives, making them fascinating. The students’ projects, she noted, focused on critical issues like climate change, waste management, new technologies, and environmental concerns specific to the Nicobar Islands.
The event also saw Mr. H. Nathaniel, Education Officer, along with Heads of Institutions, teachers, and students, welcoming the dignitaries and setting an encouraging tone for the day’s activities.
Impressive exhibits were displayed by the three CRCs (Cluster Resource Centres)—GSSS Lapathy, GSSS Malacca, and GSSS Sawai—covering a wide range of categories including Science, Mathematics, Arts, and Crafts. Food stalls, set up by GPS Jayanthi, GPS Kimious, and GPS Teetop, added to the charm of the event, offering a variety of local delicacies. In addition, a captivating flower arrangement, crafted by the teachers of GPS Kinyuka and GMPS Headquarter, received widespread admiration.
The exhibition was evaluated by a panel of jury members, including Mr. B. Hari, AE (E & M.) from APWD, Mr. Anbhazagan, AE (CD) from APWD, and Mr. Rathish Kumar R.R., JE (E& M) from APWD Car Nicobar. The craft items were assessed by representatives from the Industries Department, Mr. Tanmay Ganguly, Assistant Director, and Ms. Suhika Shanti, Supervisor.
The exhibition was well attended by Heads of Departments, members of the public, and parents from various villages, all of whom commended the students for their creativity and dedication.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms. Everlyn, Vice Principal of GSSS Malacca, who encouraged the selected students and their guide teachers to prepare diligently for the upcoming Rajya Stariya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani (RSBVP) to be held at Sri Vijaya Puram.
